How
do you care for your Laminate Flooring?
Laminate is designed to
be a low maintenance, hassle-free, long lasting floor. Following
a few simple steps will help to ensure your floor will last you for
many years to come.
- Use a dry dust-mop
(such as a Swiffer™ sweeper) or a vacuum with a soft brush
or wood floor attachment to remove dust, dirt and other grit.
- A damp cloth or mop may
be used without causing damage to your floor, however, do not use
excessive water and be sure to dry the floor thoroughly with a soft
cloth.
- Immediately dry spills
or water with a clean, dry cloth, sponge or paper towel. DO
NOT allow liquid to remain
on your laminate flooring.
- Do
Not use abrasive or soap
based cleaning products
- Do
Not polish or wax the floor
- Do
Not use steel wool or scouring
pads that can scratch the surface of your laminate floor.
- Do
Not sand, treat, seal or
attempt to refinish your laminate floor.
- Use only colorfast, non-scratching
carpet or pads on your laminate floor.
- Use felt pads under furniture
legs and try not to slide furniture or appliances across the floor
- Try to avoid sharp objects
with concentrated weight such as high heels on your laminate floor
Unfortunately, accidental
stains and spots may occur from time to time. Try these remedies for
their removal -
- Chocolate, Grease,
Juice and Wine - Luke warm water and a non-abrasive cleaner
- Candle wax and Gum -
Allow to harden and scrape off with a blunt plastic scraper
- Marker, crayon, lipstick,
oil, shoe polish, cigar/cigarette burns - use acetone or nail polish
