Shade
Variances
- Cork tiles are made
from natural materials and subject to shade or tone variations
- Tiles may be received
from the manufacturer up to a maximum of 3 different shadesSeparate the cartons
according to shade markings on box; boxes will be marked light,
medium or dark
- Tile should be installed
from alternate boxes using 3 to 4 boxes to even out the distribution
of shade variances
Acclimation
- Do not loose lay tile
before installation, tiles may curl, making installation difficult
- Remove tiles from
boxes with the adhesive in room where they are to be applied for
24 hours prior to installation
- Temperature should
be between 65 and 75 degrees, 24 hours before, during and after
installation
Adhesive
- Adhesive: We recommend
a multi-purpose adhesive such as Roberts 3300 Max Performance
- Use recommended notch
trowel : 3/32" x 3/32", V notched. Spread rate
is approximately 100 - 125 sq. ft. per gallon
- Apply adhesive in
a uniform pattern onto sub-floor. Hold trowel at angle
no less than 45 degrees
- Only apply adhesive
to an area in which tiles can be laid in a 15 - 20 minute period
- An open time of 15
- 20 minutes ( depending on environmental conditions ) prior
to tile laying is advisable so that adhesive can develop tack.

Securing

a hand roller around the base and any area not accessible by a large
roller
- One hour and two hours
after the first rolling, roll again in two directions
- After installation,
the cork floor tiles will require a minimum of 72 hours to set
Finishing
the Tile
- APC Cork Tiles are
finished at the factory with a matte acrylic urethane finish.
It is not necessary to add another finish after the floor has been
installed
- If you wish to seal
the joints, it will be necessary to screen the tiles and refinish
with two coats of matte acrylic urethane
